On August 13th, during the evaluation meeting of the Southeast Asia Biotrade Project titled “Building a Greener Future: The Mekong Biotrade Story,” Visimex was honored to receive the “Certificate of Recognition” from Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and the Center for Rural Economy Development (CRED) for its outstanding contributions to the Biotrade project from 2016 to 2024.
Southeast Asia Biotrade Project – A Commitment to Sustainable Development
The Southeast Asia Biotrade Project, funded by the Swiss Government through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), is an initiative aimed at conserving biodiversity and supporting local producers and exporters in Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. Since its inception in 2016, the project has positively impacted over 56,000 people in the region, particularly rural communities and economically disadvantaged ethnic minorities.
Visimex – A Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture
Visimex has been an active participant in the Biotrade project from the very beginning. With its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, Visimex is committed to “Improving the quality of life for farmers by enhancing income and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Developing cultivation areas with advanced farming techniques contributes to nature conservation and ensures biodiversity goals.”
Throughout the project’s implementation, Visimex collaborated with Helvetas to support hundreds of farmers, covering thousands of hectares of cinnamon and star anise cultivation in the company’s sourcing areas. This participation and effort have played a significant role in the project’s success, helping to increase farmers’ income while protecting the natural environment.
Continuing the Journey Towards Sustainable Development
Visimex is committed not only to its business goals but also to sustainable agricultural development. In the future, Visimex will continue to collaborate with international organizations to implement new projects aimed at promoting sustainable economic development in Vietnam and the region.
