Van Yen Cinnamon Festival History

Van Yen Cinnamon Festival is an annual activity that aims to introduce Vietnam cassia products. At the same time, preserve and promote the unique cultural values of the Red Dao people associated with cassia trees to serve tourism development. This special, memorable and unique festival is for Van Yen district and Yen Bai province. Within the framework of the program, there are also activities: Exhibition “Cultural space of ethnic groups “; Exhibition of OCOP products and Van Yen cassia; Photo exhibition of 150 typical artistic photos of Yen Bai land and people, including cinnamon and people; Scientific conference “Improving the value and brand of cassia “; The processing contest of cinnamon products with the theme “The Quintessence of the land of cinnamon”; Contest “Charming young lady in cinnamon” and many activities with unique colors of cassia land Yen Bai.

The highlight of the Cinnamon Festival is the opening night with a unique cultural program. The program will express the recreating of the land and people of Van Yen from the beginning and their fighting foreign invaders to protect the peace. Besides that, the appearance of the cassia tree is associated with sacred and mysterious stories associated with the identity of Vietnam highland people, especially the Dao, and the attachment between the cassia tree to the land and the people here.
